Our reclaimed teak roots, selected from plantations harvested up to 50 years ago, are hand extracted, allowing for an eco-friendly, low impact, soft footprint on the land so reforestation can replenish this renewable resource. Our Indonesian artisans use their imaginations and traditional techniques teasing out the inherent beauty of this highly desirable hardwood, just as generations before them.
Teak wood is naturally weather-resistant and virtually immune to rotting due to its high rubber and natural oil content. These natural properties not only protect the teak wood from extreme hot & cold temperatures, but from humidity and insects as well.
Its durability in withstanding the elements plus its natural water repellant properties have made teak wood sought after for generations in naval building applications and furniture crafting.
Our pieces are personally selected or commissioned by Rusty Davidson on his yearly trips to artisan studios and workshops around the world. Our inventory is constantly evolving to include additional treasures, art and furniture pieces.

The Davidson brothers, Lane, Rusty and Allan, imagined the concept of Terlingua “language of the earth”, their retail concept in 1970 in downtown Calgary. Between them, the brothers had traveled to over 100 different countries picking up oddities and striking tribal art pieces, being collectively struck by the indigenous art styles of the Middle East, Asia, and South America. Having made the decision to bring the treasures back for a North American market to appreciate, the adventure began.
Our team of local artisan use their own imagination, teasing out the inherent beauty of this hardwood, just as, in their traditions, generations have done before them.
While Rusty works day to day with the local artisans in Indonesia. We are close to our team in Indonesia and Rusty remains there to ensure safe and humane working environments. Rusty focuses on fair-trade and fair-wage for each our our artisans, whom we are very close to and have been for years.
He also focuses on eco-friendly processes for every piece that we bring to you. Along with this, he focuses on improving the life quality of the local artisan’s, who would otherwise likely work in Sulphur Mines, which decreases their life expectancy by 40 years.
We are able to bring you something unique and handmade with such intricacy and intention only because of our talented team bringing their tradition directly to you in each one of our unique pieces and Rusty’s partnership with these artisans directly in their communities.
